Most of us think we are living in the real world, when actually we are living in a cocoon of fearful, limited beliefs about the world. We think these make us safer, but they only surround us with suffering. When this vibration of suffering continues unchecked, it becomes habitual, making it harder for us to relate openly our life experiences. We lose our natural curiosity, anticipation, and wonder at life – because our perceptions are drenched in anxiety and its byproducts.
Don’t get me wrong – the real world is there. Our arms and legs can definitely collide with tables and chairs, for instance. But, to the degree that our internal state is tense and worried rather than open, relaxed, and peaceful, , we think the real world is what threatens our serenity – that it just keeps poking our cocoon, triggering our reactivity. It feels hopeless: “I can’t change the world! What am I supposed to do?” And all the while, it is these patterns of reactivity themselves that are causing us to give up our rightful inner peace.
When something pokes us with pain, we often miss the fact that once again we react by stopping ourselves from opening to the wondrous world and our friendly relations, responding genuinely to experiences and relationships. Instead, we spin yet another thread of fear, and the cocoon grows larger and more claustrophobic.
Why do we find it so difficult to break out of this cocoon of suffering? How do we begin to unravel this mess?
In this 4 part webinar beginning Wednesday, September 4, 2024, Jack will show you how to unravel your fearful patterns and rediscover your natural capacity to relate to the world with joy instead of fear and confusion.
